Nike Just Launched a New FlyEase Sneaker For the Tokyo Olympics

Nike just launched a new version of its FlyEase sneaker ahead of the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Available now on Nike’s website is the latest Glide FlyEase Premium, which was designed for the winning athletes to wear on the medal stand at the global games. The hands-free silhouette features a laceless navy mesh upper constructed with recycled materials along with a collapsible heel that folds down and snaps back into place providing a secured fit. Completing the design is a recycled ZoomX foam giving wearers a responsive feel while the outsole uses excess rubber sourced from Nike’s factory floor.

“The world’s greatest athletes don’t have much time to get from their event to the medal stand. Still in the zone and surging with adrenaline, the last thing they want to do is tie another pair of shoes,” the Swoosh wrote for the shoe’s product description.

Nike debuted the forward-thinking Flyease tech in 2015 to give athletes of all capabilities an easier way to wear their sneakers. The innovation was created by Tobie Hatfield (the younger brother of legendary footwear designer Tinker Hatfield) after a teenager named Matthew Walzer voiced his challenges of living with cerebral palsy including him relying on his parents to help him wear his shoes every day. Fast forward to this year, multiple variations of the Nike FlyEase sneaker have been released including the Nike Go FlyEase in February.

The Nike Glide FlyEase Premium is available now at Nike.com for a retail price of $120.
