Nike Brings Its Sizzling ‘Bacon’ Colorway to the Dunk Low Sneaker

Nike is serving up some bacon for the holiday season, as its iconic breakfast-inspired colorway comes to the Dunk Low.

Pink “Sheen,” “Sport Red, and “Medium Brown” to the silhouette for a color scheme that mimics that of the beloved Air Max 90 “Bacon” originally released in 2004. Off-white “Sail” forms the leather underlays and midsole, while red nubuck dresses the tip, eyestays, and heel. Pink nubuck then takes over the Swoosh and tongue, with the color repeating for the Nike logo atop a shaggy brown suede mustache. Completing the makeup, brown is also used for the outsole and tongue tag featuring red Nike branding.

The colorway originates from a 2004 Air Max 90 collaboration with Dave’s Quality Meat, a now-closed concept sneaker boutique in New York City that was one of the first of its kind in the country. Co-founder Dave Ortiz came up with the idea for the shoe just two days before deadline after hitting the bodega for an NYC staple, a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich.

Nike re-released the Air Max 90 “Bacon” in 2021, and its been relatively slept on with a resale price that hovers around its retail of $140. The original, however, has sold for as much as $1,300 this year on platforms such as StockX. Over the years, slight variants of the colorway have also appeared on the Air Max 180, ACG Lowcate, and Air Max 90 Current Huarache.

The Nike Dunk Low “Bacon” releases this Thursday, Dec. 21, through the SNKRS app. Sizing is exclusive to women, and the price is set at $125.
