Nike Basketball Reveals Its Performance-Focused ‘Greater Than’ Series

Nike has a new line of basketball sneakers coming soon, which is designed to help hoopers take control of their space on the court.

Today, the athletic powerhouse unveiled the Greater Than (G.T.) series, a collection of performance basketball shoes made up of three silhouettes. The first shoe in the line is the Air Zoom G.T. Cut, which is designed for cutting and the quick change in direction on the court. The other two shoes are the Air Zoom G.T. Run, which was created specifically with energy return and running economy in mind, and the Air Zoom G.T. Jump, made to provide impact protection to high leapers.

The experiences will be offered in part to the brand’s new Zoom Air Strobel cushioning systems.

The first shoe attributes its performance specs to the design’s curved Zoom Air Strobel geometry, providing a low-to-the-ground sensation while still maintaining comfort and responsiveness. The second shoe features a mid-cut design and a full-length Nike React sockliner, while a double-stacked Zoom Air in the forefoot and a full-length Nike React midsole support the underfoot. The last model includs a woven JumpWire upper that’s paired with an elaborate tooling utilizing Zoom Air cushioning, a full-length Zoom Air Strobel and a Pebax jump frame.

“The game’s currency is about quickness and space. How you use space on court can mark the difference between winning and losing,” Nike senior creative director for men’s performance sports Ross Klein said in a statement. “The Greater Than series helps enable all players to create space in three ways: cutting quicker, running longer and jumping higher. Each silhouette in the range is designed to play at the highest level, but it’s your choice which capability you want to create separation with.”

The Nike Air Zoom G.T. Cut will be released tomorrow at Nike.com and at select Nike Basketball retailers in Greater China, while stores in North America will be launching the shoe in late April. The Air Zoom G.T. Run drops this summer, and lastly, the Air Zoom G.T. Jump will launch sometime this year.
