Nik Bentel Turns the New York Picnic Into Must-Have Accessories
Rising designer and all-round creative visionary, Nik Bentel, is back with another surreal design, this time landing in the form of a New York City-inspired picnic collection, created in collaboration with partner Kortney Hinden.
Comprising two handbags, made for holding hot dogs and pizza slices, and a limited-edition picnic blanket, the collection aims to celebrate NYC pop culture while recreating the humble picnic in the most absurd way possible. Limited to 20 units per bag and 100 units for the blanket, the collection continues Bentel's long-standing legacy of exclusive creative projects drawing on the mundane and the ordinary.
An homage to the quintessential I Heart NY T-shirts flogged by tourist vendors, the blanket boasts an oversized T-shirt design, nodding to the "occurrence of an impromptu picnic, where you're all sharing whoever's extra T-shirt was in their bag," according to Bentel.
