Nicole Kidman’s Teen Daughter Sunday Isn’t ‘Interested’ in Her Work — With One Notable Exception

Although we are obsessed with everything Nicole Kidman does — yes, including her movie theatre ads! — her 15-year-old daughter Sunday has an entirely different opinion. In a rare new interview, the Oscar winner revealed that her youngest children, daughters Sunday and Faith, 13, who she shares with husband Keith Urban, aren’t “interested” in what she does.

“They’ve watched ‘BMX Bandits’ … they love ‘BMX Bandits’ … but they aren’t that interested in my work,” Kidman told Sunrise on Tuesday. “It’s kind of great — I don’t have to worry about that [the kids being too interested in my work] — in the sense they have very full lives themselves and I just get out of the way.” It turns out, even if you are a Hollywood A-lister, it’s still hard to get your kids to care about what you do! (That’s gotta make parents feel a little better, right?)

In an interview with Australia Vogue, the Expats star shared that there actually is one other project Sunday likes (other than the 1983 action-comedy BMX Bandits, of course). Kidman revealed that they recently watched Big Little Lies together, and her daughter was hooked!

“She has a very good understanding of things, and life, so she was hand-held through it,” Kidman told the outlet. (Kidman admitted that she did have her daughter avert her eyes through part of the show.) Sunday liked it so much, she encouraged her mom to move forward with Season 3.

“And she was like, ‘No. There’s no more discussion. The third series has to happen … I’m sick of the talk. Sick of circling it. Just get it done,’” Kidman told Australia Vogue with a laugh. “You need a teenager to go, ‘Enough. Just do it.’” We totally agree, Sunday — and hopefully with her daughter’s push, Kidman will agree to film more of the HBO drama/thriller with Reese Witherspoon!

Family Time

The Australian actress is very private about her family life and her kids, including her adult children Bella, 31, and Connor, 29, who she adopted with ex-husband Tom Cruise. But it’s clear that family time is very important. In a July 2023 interview with Australian reporter Angela Bishop, Kidman revealed that she loves spending time with family. “Just family. Always family. We jump in and out quite a bit, sometimes under the radar, which is always lovely too,” she said in a response to a question about what’s on the horizon for her.

The Being the Ricardos star also shared how much her youngest daughters love Australia. “The girls love it too, so yeah, we’re very much always back and forth,” she said. “It’s a huge part of our life and seeing my sister and all of my nieces and nephews and my mama so [blows a kiss] to all of them.”

These celebrity kids are giving their parents a humbling reality check by having zero interest in their movies.
