Nicole Kidman on the Surprising Reason Her Emmy Win Meant More Than Her Oscar
Living, breathing goddess Celeste Wright Nicole Kidman has many accolades to mark her glorious acting career, not the least of which is her 2002 Best Actress Oscar for The Hours.
But on last night's episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the actress revealed it was actually her double Emmy win this past September (for producing and starring in Big Little Lies) that meant the world to her.
Why? Simple—because she could share and celebrate her victory with family. "When I won my Oscar, I was not in a great place in my life. I didn't have a partner to share it with," said Kidman (who had just divorced Tom Cruise at the time). "So, to win an Emmy and be in love and have my family…It's amazing...There's something incredible about going home and going, 'Baby! We did it!'" she concluded theatrically, referring to her two daughters Faith (6) and Sunday (9) and her husband, Keith Urban.
She also noted the win was extra, extra special because—yup, you guessed it—there were two physical awards (one for each daughter to call dibs on). Celeb sibs: They're just as crappy at sharing as we are.
