Nicole Curtis recently shared Rehab Addict is returning for its eighth season, but the news comes as a surprise now more than ever. A contentious custody battle threatened to end the show's run, and a new Instagram hints the fight over 20-month-old Harper is far from over.

"Just like that, my little one jumps into my arm and reaches for a breast," the HGTV host captioned a photo of her son breastfeeding. "I sit for a long time in the car when we do these returns while getting screamed at — 'Put your boob away in my driveway'.. Just counting my blessings that another extended visit is over."

According to her tell-all memoir last fall, Curtis split from on-again, off-again partner Shane Maguire soon after the surprise pregnancy. Her ex then filed for paternity and joint custody, and a court awarded him both citing a positive DNA test, the Detroit News reports.

Curtis attempted to block Maguire from having overnight custody until Harper's second birthday, but lost the plea. The parents even fought over their son's name, with a judge ordering a change to his birth certificate to include Maguire.

"I've had good relationships and positive experiences and I wish they were all like that," Curtis told People in October. "But unfortunately they aren't."

While the many court appearances took a toll, Curtis hoped some good would come out of her struggle. "I had no idea that this stuff went on in family courts," she told People. "I am really trying to use a negative experience and really be an advocate for women who don't have this."

HGTV fans can only hope that Harper's parents will eventually resolve their differences.
