When you think of Nicolas Cage (you know, for all the time you spend thinking of Nicolas Cage), several things likely come to mind:

  1. The fact that he once spent almost $300,000 on some old (stolen) dinosaur bones.

  2. The fact that he purchased a pyramid to be buried in.

  3. This gif:

But what you might not know about Nic, man who truly deserved an Oscar for his performance in Face/Off, is that he's been married five times and has a truly wild relationship history by Hollywood standards. It's truly a journey, the likes of which puts National Treasure to shame. Let's start at the beginning, but hit the TOC if you're just here to find out about one particular chapter in Nic's romantic oeuvre.

Brooke Shields: 1987 (Dated)

Before we get into it, please be advised that this relationship took place in the late 1980s, a pre-internet time when celebrity gossip wasn't even close to being in its DeuxMoi era. Meaning: Brooke and Nic's relationship was never confirmed but merely presumed due to the fact that she showed up on his arm for the premiere of Moonstruck...which is honestly a great excuse for me to make everyone watch Nic's iconic "I LOST MY HAND, I LOST MY BRIDE" scene.

Ami Dolenz: 1988 (Dated)

Another presumed relationship that is purely based on Nic bringing Ami as his date to the premiere of And God Created Women. Lotta questions, mostly about their outfits.

Christina Fulton: 1988 (Dated)

Nicolas and Christina actually have a son together named Weston Coppola Cage! Their relationship didn't last (we haven't even gotten to the first of Nic's five marriages yet), but fun fact: Christina had an uncredited part as a vampire in 1992's Bram Stoker's Dracula, which was directed by Nicolas' uncle Francis Ford Coppola.

Lisa Stolthard: 1990 (Dated)

Another rumored relationship that we only know about because of Nicolas' love for plus one-ing at premieres! The movie in question? Wild at Heart.

Kristen Zang: 1992 to 1994 (Engaged)

Nicolas and model Kristen Zang got together in 1992 and appear to have been engaged before breaking things off in 1994. This ^ is them at the Golden Globes, but they also attended important events like the Hard Rock Cafe opening.

Patricia Arquette: 1995 to 2001 (Married)

According to an interview Patricia gave in The Telegraph, she met Nicolas at age 18 and he proposed that day. That said, they didn't end up marrying until reconnecting about decade later when she was 27.

As for rumors that they broke up 9 months into their marriage and never told anyone, Patricia said, “There were times when we weren’t living together because we were fighting, but it wasn’t as reported and I didn’t feel that I needed to explain that. There were times when my mom was dying and I was living with her, taking care of her. There were times when he was away working on a movie. It was our thing. I still don’t feel like I owe it to anyone. It’s funny when people are so wrong, and they put you in this position and decide who you are.”

Lisa Marie Presley: August 2002 - November 2002 (Married)

Soooo these two were married for just over 100 days. Nic told The Guardian, "That particular relationship was really based on humor. We had a lot of laughs together. So that's what that was. Much was made about it because of her father and whatnot, but we had a simple relationship in my opinion. That was a different time in my life. Many lifetimes ago."

Meanwhile, Lisa Marie told Rolling Stone in 2003 that "We're both so dramatic and dynamic that when it was good, it was unbelievably good, and when it was bad, it was just a fucking bloody nightmare for everybody. It was just Mr. Toad's Wild Ride."

Despite splitting up, Lisa Marie and Nic stayed friends, and upon her death Nic released a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, saying in part, "This is devastating news. Lisa had the greatest laugh of anyone I ever met. She lit up every room, and I am heartbroken."

Alice Kim: 2004 - 2016 (Married)

Nic and Alice met at the Los Angeles restaurant where she was working at the time and fell in love fast. As in, they got married two months later and went on to have a son named Kal-El (named after Superman). Nicolas told The Guardian he didn't see the breakup coming, saying, “It was a shocker for me–I definitely didn’t see it coming," and, "She was quite young when I married her and I don’t really have any ill will towards what happened. That’s all I’ll say."

Erika Koike: Four Days in 2019 (Married)

Nic filed for an annulment from Erika Koike just four days after their wedding, saying (per USA Today) that he didn't realize the extent of her “relationship with another person.” Ooookay then!

These two met through mutual friends, got engaged over FaceTime, and welcomed their first child, August Francesca, back in 2022. Re: Nic deciding to get married for a fifth time, he told the Los Angeles Times, "I know five is a lot, but I think I got it right this time."
