Nicolas Cage Reacts to Viral TikTok Trend With Pedro Pascal

The "Pedro Pascal Car Trend" guest stars Nicolas Cage.

TikTok trends come and go, but the "Pedro Pascal Car Trend" reigns strong.

So strong, in fact, that it's been brought to the attention of Nicolas Cage, who also features in the lighthearted video format that's been flooding the For You Page for the last several weeks.

Set to Mama Cass’ “Make Your Own Kind Of Music,” the trend utilizes a clip from the 2022 film The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent, in which Cage plays a fictionalized, washed-up version of himself, and Pascal plays a billionaire superfan. The scene in question finds Cage sitting in the passenger seat of a convertible, his head slowly turning to look at the driver's side with stunned concern. There, behind the wheel, is Pascal, who turns to look back at Cage with a giant, dopey grin.

Creators label each actor to represent a contrasting action or idea. For example, in one video, Cage represents, "Me when my dog brings back his toy for the 100th time to throw..." while Pascal is, of course, the dog, just living his best life.

In another, Cage embodies the feeling of "My boyfriend crawling into our warm bed, just wanting some peace," while Pascal is "Me and the glaciers I call feet."

Instead of fizzling out quickly, the car trend continues to grow in popularity, likely due to Pascal's own viral internet fame, which continues to grow as a result of the press tour for HBO's The Last of Us, earning him the title of "Internet Daddy."

While Pascal has yet to speak on this aspect of his social media stardom, his costar has made it known that he's proud to be a part of it, even if he doesn't quite understand what's going on.

A TikTok user named Vanessa, who is an Emmy-Winning News & Entertainment Producer, according to her Instagram account, uploaded clips of the moment on the social media app.

"Yes, he's seen the viral Pedro Pascal edits," she captioned the interview, which occurred at the Miami Film Festival, where he was honored with Variety’s Legends and Groundbreakers Award.

"It's all over the place," Cage says, assumedly after the interviewer brings up the trend. "I have no understanding of that, that world—viral. I'm not really online, but I've heard about it. I heard there's something that's happening on, well I guess, what was it, was it TikTok or something?"

But while he may not "get it," he's still thrilled to see people enjoying it. "It's good," he continued. "Well, Pedro's a great actor. We had a lot of fun together so I'm happy it's making people happy."

It was a pretty classic response from the not-so washed up star, with one commenter declaring, "This is the most Nicholas Caging that Nicholas Cage has ever Nicholas Caged."

"Everything Nicholas cage does is meme worthy," another wrote, while a third requested Vanessa to make the sound useable for other creators.

"He’s trying so hard to pretend he’s not watching TikTok," another joked.

"hes like 'I have no idea what's happening, but I'm glad yall are having fun with it I guess,'" another gushed.

He's just happy to be included!
