In case you missed it, Nicola Peltz Beckham is the cover star of Byrdie's new Travel Issue. Take one look at her Instagram, and you will get why. The model turned writer-director-actor—who just made her directorial debut with Lola—is an expert jet setter, taking her signature minimalist style everywhere, from fashion shows in Los Angeles to red carpets in London and getaways in Tokyo.

To grace Byrdie's latest cover, Peltz Beckham wore one of the year's hottest colors—red—in the form of an all-leather shirt dress. Then, she added on some knee-high cream boots, layers of dainty simple jewelry, a slicked-back ponytail, and the dreamiest mismatched lavender manicure

The manicure has everything from swirls to solids and French style tips. Peltz Beckham's longtime manicurist, Zola Ganzorigt, tells Byrdie the duo "wanted something sophisticated" that she would still "choose for her everyday nail look."

With that in mind, Ganzorigt and Peltz Beckham landed on lavender, treating it like a "neutral" while at the same time letting it "beautifully stand out" from the shoot's nearly all-red set. Of course, the pastel shade signals the beginning of spring and a fresh start.

Using OPI's lavender shade Spring into Action ($13), the expert nail artist created a handful of beginner-friendly designs on each of the actor's nails—perfect if you are looking for an ideal yet easy way to ring in spring travels with a manicure.

Using a thin liner brush, Ganzorigt began painting the designs on top of freshly prepped nails—she cut and filed them into a medium almond shape, then buffed them before trimming Peltz Beckham's cuticles and applying a glossy base coat.

Of the few different designs she created, the simplest was the solid color. On Peltz Beckham's thumbs, middle fingers, and pinky, Ganzorigt covered her nail from cuticle to tip in a light lavender color. On each of the star's pointer fingers, the nail artist left the glossy base of her nails exposed, concentrating all the purple into a perfect French tip. The tip started right where the edge of her finger ended, creating the perfect crescent frame for the glossy base.

However, the last of the three designs was the most exciting. On each of Peltz-Beckham's ring fingers, there was a half-and-half swirly design that we've never seen before. Right next to her cuticles was a small sliver of lavender, and a glossy clear coat took over most of the center of the nail. Then, like a French tip, the lavender shade formed a similar squiggly design before the nails ended—a lavender swirl, if you would.

Once the polish was painted in the three different shapes, Ganzorgit sealed it all in with a glossy top coat, and Peltz Beckham was ready to pose for the cover.
