Nickelodeon Releases First "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" Reboot Teaser

In an era of back-to-back reboots, Nickelodeon is once again hitting us right in the ‘90s feels with another nostalgic show getting the greenlight in 2019. Are You Afraid of the Dark?, a horror anthology series that ran on-and-off between 1990 to 2000, will haunt us through our screens yet again in the form of a three-episode limited series coming this October.

The show's first teaser reveals a brand-new Midnight Society, comprised of five kids, gathered around their signature campfire, gearing up to tell the story of the Carnival of Doom. It looks pretty scary, just like the original, though we're not sure anything can be scarier than that swimming pool zombie who still haunts our dreams to this day.

This time around, former fan and current series writer of the show, BenDavid Grabinski, told EW how watching the show decades ago has come full circle for him.

Are You Afraid of The Dark? was my introduction to the horror genre and made me a fan for life,” Grabinski said. “I hope we’re lucky enough to have our series do the same. It’s going to be a fun and scary ride, and I’m honored to introduce the Midnight Society to a whole new generation of kids.”

The new version of the show will include actors Sam Ashe Arnold, Miya Cech, Tamara Smart, Jeremy Taylor, and Lyliana Wray. There also has been talk that there will be a full-length feature version of Are You Afraid of the Dark? to be released after the mini-series, according to Deadline, but for now, we declare this meeting of the Midnight Society closed. Until next time, pleasant dreams everyone!
