So Nick Viall Says Katie Thurston Spoke With Blake Moynes Before His Appearance on the Show

Katie Thurston's season of The Bachelorette is off to a good start so far, wouldn't you agree? We're now down to Katie's remaining 18 contestants, but there's one dude in her list of men who hasn't officially shown up yet: Blake Moynes. Twitter was absolutely thirsting after Blake on Monday night after he showed up in a lil teaser for next week's episode, but as it turns out, Katie and Blake were actually in contact before he even started filming on set.

During an appearance on Us Weekly's Here for the Right Reasons podcast, Nick Viall revealed that while he doesn't exactly “know the back story” of how Blake joined Katie's season, he knows the two had conversations before his arrival on set. “It sounds like there was some dialogue between Katie and Blake. I don’t think it was to the degree that it was with [me and] Kaitlyn [Bristowe],” Nick said. “[For us], it was like a pretty intense, you know, two months of dialogue, but I do think Blake will go far.”

For what it's worth, Katie did back up Nick's statements for herself. Ahead of the season premiere, Katie told Us Weekly that she did indeed speak to Blake before he showed up on her season.

“I definitely knew who he was, which also Tayshia’s ex-boyfriend! So that’s weird,” Katie said. “We had chatted before, but usually what happens is, like, the guys will reach out to the women once they’re eliminated and be like, ‘Good luck, you did great.’ Like very generic, you know? And so to see him, I was like, ‘Why is he here?’ Like, ‘What’s happening?’” Iiiiinteresting.

Nick, on the other hand, thinks that “Blake is going to get crap, obviously, for someone who fell in love with Clare [Crawley] without validation, fell in love with Tayshia [Adams] without validation. So, when he’s [saying], ‘I’m in love with Katie,’ it’s fair to question [it].” Nick also said he doesn't “question that he believes what he says. I just kind of question, like, ‘Do you just kind of love hard, bro?’”
