Since starting his career in 1998, Nick Cannon has played many roles, from actor to comedian to host. But off-camera, the host of The Masked Singer has played perhaps his most important part: father ... to many.

"I'm so excited about all my kids," he said in a PEOPLE interview in May. "Constantly, from every aspect of it. From them getting citizen of the month awards in the first grade to the birth of the new ones. Every day I just wake up excited as a father."

After having four children in 2021, Cannon's family is still growing. In July 2022, model Bre Tiesi confirmed she had given birth to his eighth child, a son named Legendary Love. Tiesi shared graphic details of her unmedicated at-home birth in a YouTube vlog.

Tiesi, who finalized her divorce from NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel in 2021, was sporting a notable baby bump as she and Nick posed for pictures at a baby shower in January 2022. Cannon later confirmed on The Nick Cannon Show that Tiesi was pregnant with his eighth child.

On Sept. 14, 2022, he announced on Instagram the birth of Onyx Ice Cole Cannon, his newest daughter and first child (and ninth overall) with model Lanisha Cole.

"Once again Today I am in Awe of the Devine Feminine!" he said in the post. "God has given me and @MissLanishaCole the privilege of hosting an Angel here on earth. I vow to protect, provide, guide and love this child to the best of my abilities."

“I think some people have their idea of conventional relationships and certain things, but we have a beautiful relationship,” Bre Tiesi told E! News’ Daily Pop. “Everything is so supportive and positive.”

After rumors spread that Cannon had two more babies coming in 2022, he said on Angela Yee's "Lip Service" podcast, "Let's just put it this way... the stork is on the way."

That turned out to come true soon after. Only nine days after Onyx was born, Cannon announced the birth of his tenth child and his third with model Brittany Bell on Sept. 23, 2022.

Just in time to celebrate Thanksgiving as a family, another of his partners, Abby de la Rosa, the mother of his twins born in 2021, welcomed Zeppelin Cannon on Nov. 11, 2022.

Model Alyssa Scott, the mother of Cannon's late son Zen who died in December 2021, announced that she was pregnant and confirmed that Nick Cannon is the father on Nov. 3.

Cannon closed out 2022 (so far) by welcoming a baby girl with Scott on Dec. 14.

What happened to Nick Cannon's son, Zen?

In early December 2021, a terrible tragedy struck when Cannon revealed on his talk show that the youngest of his seven children, 5-month-old son Zen, had died from brain cancer.

Cannon revealed that Zen was discovered to have a malignant tumor in his head a couple of months prior to his passing. He then explained that Zen's condition was all right until Thanksgiving 2021, when "the tumor began to grow a lot faster."

"I really want to say I'm so grateful for my entire family for coming together during this time and being so loving and not judgmental of me," he said while also signaling out special praise for Zen's mother, Alyssa Scott. "Alyssa was the strongest woman I've ever seen... [She] was always the best mom and continues to be the best mom possible."

Toward the end of the weekend, he explained through tears, he held his son for the last time.

What is Nick Cannon's new game show?

On March 7, Nick Cannon announced Who's Having My Baby?, a new reality series touted as the "mother of all game shows." We hope this is an early April Fools' Day prank. Otherwise, Cannon has taken something precious and intimate and turned into something commercial and disgusting. Let's be clear, even if it is a joke, it shouldn't be. A short Instagram promo reveals the show will be hosted by comedian Kevin Hart and will air on E! this spring. The offensive new series pokes fun at Cannon's multiple children with the "Wild & Out" host outlining his baby mama selection process as "Eeny, meeny, miny, [moe]." You'll need to watch the full promo to absorb the pure horror—and possibly revisit your thoughts government-regulated sterilization.

Nick Cannon on condoms

In a 2017 interview with Howard Stern that has resurfaced amid the scrutiny of his offspring, Cannon offered his thoughts on condoms: “I might die in the morning,” Cannon said. “So why wear condoms?” (This was an interview in which he discussed a near-death experience.)

Nick Cannon on celibacy

In October 2021, Cannon announced on his talk show, Nick Cannon, his plan to try celibacy until at least 2022. "I’m going to try to be celibate until 2022," he said. "We're going to see if we can make it to the end of the year. Somebody said, 'You should go longer.' Take your time! We'll get to the end of the year, then we'll talk about 2022."

Unfortunately, that vow did not last very long. Cannon admitted the death of his son Zen brought a bout of depression. And in December, he broke his celibacy, though he still relishes the month and a half of avoiding temptation.

After learning he would be having his eighth child, Cannon admitted he was done having children for the time being, saying, "I don't have the bandwidth for [expanding my family] anymore." In May 2022, he told E! that he has already attended a vasectomy consultation. "I ain't looking to populate the Earth completely," he told them, "but I'm definitely looking forward to taking care and loving all the children that I currently have."

That "for the time being" apparently was the key part of the phrase, because he had four more children since then.

Nick Cannon on why he has so many kids

During an appearance on The Breakfast Club, Nick Cannon answered questions many people are likely asking, "Why so many kids" and "why so many mothers"?

“The idea that a man should have one woman…we shouldn’t have anything," he said on the show. "I have no ownership over this person. It’s about what exchange we can create together. So, I’ve never really subscribed to that mentality. I don’t want ownership over anybody. I don’t have ownership over any of the mothers. We created a beautiful entity...

“Those women, all women, are the ones that open themselves up and say ‘I would like to allow this man in my world. And I will birth this child.’ It ain’t my decision. I’m following suit,” he added.

“Every woman that I deal with or dealt with, they know how I feel.”
