  • Nick Cannon is known for having 12 kids with six different mothers.

  • Wanting to make sure all six felt recognized on Mother's Day, Nick reportedly opted for handwritten notes.

  • However, a mix-up meant some of those notes got mistakenly delivered.

The name Nick Cannon means different things to different generations. For millennials, evoking Nick Cannon calls to mind Nickelodeon shows like All That and films like Drumline and Love Don't Cost A Thing. For the Gen-Z crowd, Cannon is likely first thought of as a host of things like America's Got Talent, The Masked Singer, and his namesake MTV show Nick Cannon Presents: Wild 'N Out. And for the current crop of youngsters that make up the currently-dubbed Generation Alpha, a fair amount of them know him as "Dad."

Alright, so Cannon has yet to have enough kids to be considered the chief progenitor of the post-Zoomer generation. But his prolific procreative efforts are so well known now that Cannon is probably better known for "having a lot of kids" than for rapping, acting, or pushing conspiracy theories. And as it turns out, having 12 kids with six different mothers can make for some pretty wacky mix-ups on Mother's Day.

Back in April, Nick Cannon launched a new daily talk show called The Daily Cannon where he muses about the fun events going on in his life. (It's not to be confused with the podcast Cannon's Class, where he mused upon, like, who controls the world's finances and stuff. But that was 2020 and we all forgot about that.)

As PopSugar reports, Cannon took the opportunity on his May 15 episode to talk about trying to go the extra mile to make Mother's Day a more sincere and personal experience for the six women he currently co-parents with. "I thought it would be really, really good to ... you know, to show people how you really feel, write it down," he said on the show. "I was doing handwritten messages from the heart."

Unfortunately, keeping track of all those mothers was a bit much for Cannon. "As I'm writing a handwritten message, I get the cards mixed up." And amidst the mix-up of cards being sent to Mariah Carey, Brittany Bell, Abby De La Rosa, Alyssa Scott, Bre Tiesi, and LaNisha Cole, apparently some women were not thrilled about the accident. "So, when one baby mama reads the card about how I feel about the other baby mama..."

The lesson Nick learned from this experience? "See, if I would have gotten some generic sh*t that everyone else got, that wouldn't have happened."
