Niall Horan Made His Solo Debut on "Saturday Night Live"

The Irish singer performed two new songs and gave fans a little surprise.

Niall Horan has officially made his Saturday Night Live solo debut and we’re here for it.

On Dec. 14, Niall appeared as the musical guest on the show and the occasion marked the first time Niall performed as a solo act (he had previously done so with One Direction) and the Irish crooner pulled all the stops for his debut.

With Scarlett Johansson as host, Niall took the stage twice during the night, performing two songs from his upcoming album. For the first of his performances, he kicked things off on a high note with his latest single, “Nice to Meet Ya.” Donning a very Harry Styles-esque baby pink suit and clad with his electric guitar, the singer brought rock 'n' roll to studio 8H. With groovy moves, mesmerizing lights, and booming vocals, Niall sure got the audience pumped.

For his second stage, Niall slowed things down, performing his brand new ballad “Put A Little Love On Me.” Rocking a much more subdued suit, the singer showed off his beautiful vocals once again. Set to a live piano and violin, Niall gave a very intimate performance of the song — which is, you know, not an easy task while on national television.

Without a doubt, fans were more than excited to see Niall perform solo for the first time on the show, and the hashtag #NiallOnSNL started trending on Twitter while the singer took the stage. But! Niall did more than just perform.

Though it wasn’t previously announced, the singer also appeared in a comedy skit (sadly though without a reference to any of his former bandmates). Did you spot him? Maybe Niall has a future in comedy as well as music — here's hoping we get more acting from him in the future!
