On the heels of Taylor Swift attending two of Kansas City Chiefs’ player Travis Kelce‘s games, an interest in NFL players and celebrity couples has sparked on the internet.

After attending the Chiefs vs Jets game, where Swift donned Area shorts, they sold out. Last month, after Swift appeared at Kelce’s game against the Chicago Bears, sales of his jersey spiked.

While Swift and Kelce haven’t confirmed they are dating, an analysis of Google search results by Music Industry How To found Halloween-specific searches with the terms “Travis Kelce Halloween costume” and “Taylor Swift Halloween costume” have risen by 466 percent and 816 percent, respectively. The search terms “Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift costume” and “Taylor and Travis costume” have also surged by 528 percent and 629 percent, respectively.

The pairing of NFL players and celebrities from outside industries isn’t new. From Kim Kardashian and Reggie Bush to Ciara and Russell Wilson, WWD takes a look at some of the NFL and celebrity couples who have made headlines through the years.

Kerry Washington and Nnamdi Asomugha

Emmy-nominated actress Kerry Washington and former NFL cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha married in 2013, and the couple has two children together. In the course of their relationship, Washington has been a campaign model for Movado and Neutrogena. After leaving the NFL, Asomugha followed in his wife’s footsteps and began acting. His 2017 film “Crown Heights” is considered his breakout role.

Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson

In 2014, pop star Jessica Simpson married former San Francisco 49ers tight end Eric Johnson. Together the couple have three children. In addition to her music career, Simpson also owns an eponymous shoe brand, which she bought back in 2021 after former owner Sequential filed for bankruptcy. Jessica Simpson and her mother Tina Simpson are now the owners of the brand.

Ciara and Russell Wilson

Ciara and her husband, NFL quarterback Russell Wilson, are one of the true definitions of a celebrity power couple, especially when it comes to their business ventures. The pair tied the knot in 2016. The two are the founders of The House of LR&C, a fashion company that donates 3 percent of its profits to the Why Not You Foundation for children’s health and education. They also own the womenswear line LITA by Ciara and the menswear line Good Man Brand.

Kim Kardashian and Reggie Bush

Kim Kardashian and Reggie Bush originally dated from 2007 to 2009, and their relationship was chronicled in the early seasons of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.” While they were together, Kardashian’s fame was growing, and during their relationship, she became the face of Fusion Beauty and Seven Bar Foundation’s Kiss Away Poverty. For every sale of the lipgloss, $1 went to the Seven Bar Foundation to support women entrepreneurs.

Colin Kaepernick and Nessa Diab

Colin Kaepernick made headlines when he protested standing for the National Anthem as he tried to draw attention to America’s civil rights injustices. A large influence on his vocal position on civil rights was his partner, Nessa Diab, a radio show host and media personality. From 2011 to 2016, Kaepernick was a quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. Despite not having played in the NFL since 2016, Kaepernick hasn’t disappeared from the public eye. In 2019, he appeared in ads for Nike.

Alix Earle and Braxton Berrios

TikTok star Alix Earle began dating Miami Dolphins wide receiver Braxton Berrios this year. The two attended this year’s ESPY Awards together, but Earle wouldn’t confirm their relationship status until she posted a kissing photo for Berrios’ birthday on Friday. Over the course of her influencer career, Earle has racked up sponsorships with Tarte, Rare Beauty, GrubHub and White House Boutique.

Rob Gronkowski and Camille Kostek

Rob Gronkowski and Camille Kostek began secretly dating in 2013 while Kostek was still a cheerleader for the New England Patriots. Due to team rules, they had to keep their relationship very private until Kostek retired from cheerleading in 2015, and by September of that year, they were Instagram official. Gronkowski is best known for his years as a tight end for The New England Patriots and has appeared in ads and commercials for Tide, Nike, Dunkin’ Donuts, Visa, T-Mobile, Lyft and Cheerios. Kostek, who is now a Sports Illustrated model and television presenter, collaborated with Swimsuits for All on an inclusive collection in 2022.

Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen

From 2009 to 2022, Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen was married to NFL quarterback Tom Brady. During the course of their marriage, the two were one of the biggest celebrity power couples. In 2017, the two were chairs of the Met Gala, the event often described as “The Super Bowl of Fashion.” Throughout the course of their marriage and up until today, Bündchen remains one of the highest-paid models in the world. She’s modeled for Chanel, David Yurman and Louis Vuitton, among many other brands.

Shailene Woodley and Aaron Rodgers

Shailene Woodley and NFL player Aaron Rodgers were in an on-again-off-again relationship between 2020 and early 2023. The pair were even engaged at one point. During their time together, Rodgers became an ambassador for Zenith watches, while Woodley was a regular attendee at Dior’s front rows and events.
