Next Level Chef returns for the second night of competition with 14 chefs remaining for a chance to cook their way to winning $250,000. Last week, Matt Auckland from Richard Blais’ team was eliminated, so Team Blais will be cooking in the basement kitchen this week.

Nyesha Arrington’s Ryan “Von” Smith won last week's smash burger challenge, so Team Arrington will be cooking in the top-level kitchen this week, which leaves Gordon Ramsay’s team in the middle kitchen.

What was the first challenge this episode, and who won it?

The challenge for the night was a “hurry curry,” Gordon joked since normally making a curry takes hours but the chefs only get 30 minutes to produce the winning dish.

“I am so excited right now,” said Team Ramsay’s winning chef Izahya, who has never made a curry before and chose to use squid for his dish. "We got the best dish. I said curry isn’t in my wheelhouse but after today, call me the curry man.”

Gordon said, “The actual flavor of the curry sauce, that needs to be put in a jar,” and Nyesha added, “The creativity there is 10 out of 10."

What was the elimination challenge this episode, and who won it?

The elimination challenge was another Indian staple: Butter chicken. Richard chose Lauren to represent his team as her pork was undercooked for her curry dish. Nyesha selected Ari because she used too much turmeric in her dish, and it overpowered all the other flavors. So, it was home cook Lauren against professional chef Ari, and Lauren had never made or eaten butter chicken before.

Even so, Lauren won the challenge, meaning that Ari was eliminated.

“I did not play it safe at all in any of the challenges,” Ari said. “I had the hot dogs, I took the ostrich meat and I am so proud of myself for doing that and having the courage to come in front of the best chefs in the world and put myself to the test. I fought to the end and that’s all I could ask for.”

Next Level Chef airs Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
