After years of speculation, a new James Bond may finally be on the horizon. At least, if you believe the latest reports.

According to a story in The Sun, U.K. actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been offered the iconic role, although details have yet to be finalized.

“Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back," an anonymous source told the publication. "As far as [production company] Eon is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement."

Taylor-Johnson's name has been one of a handful kicked around in the press, and he even publicly addressed the speculation in a recent interview. "I find it charming and wonderful that people see me in that role. I take it as a great compliment," he told Spanish outlet Número.

Taylor-Johnson has appeared in films like Kick-Ass, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Bullet Train, A Million Little Pieces, and Nocturnal Animals.

EON Productions declined to comment to trade publication Deadline, although it did not outright deny the report.

The new film will follow 2021's No Time to Die, Craig's last outing as 007. An official timeline for the release has not yet been set.
