Next generation of The Sims — codenamed 'Project Rene' — is about to drop
The Sims 5 is still pretty hush-hush, but it’s codenamed “Project Rene” and is coming eventually.
At the Behind The Sims Summit on Oct. 18, Lyndsay Pearson, vice president of franchise creative for The Sims, announced the company already has a dedicated team working on Project Rene.

“We chose ‘Project Rene’ because it’s reminiscent of words like ‘renewal’, ‘renaissance’, ‘rebirth’, and it represents our renewed commitment to The Sims,” the official announcement stated.
When is The Sims 5 being released?
The game won’t be available for at least a few years, but a sneak peek was shown at the summit. Pearson admitted that it was “super early” for them to reveal details about the project.
Fans are eager to get their hands on a new version of the game. The Sims 4 was released eight years ago, in 2014. Also announced at the summit was The Sims 4 is now permanently free.
How is The Sims 5 different from The Sims 4?
The Sims 5 will have more customization options. The sneak peek showed players choosing different colors and patterns to change the appearance of home furniture.
Users can also play solo or with others. There’s even a new collaborative element that allows users to share their designs more seamlessly. Another new feature is that the game will be accessible across multiple devices like phones, tablets and computers.
“Over the next couple of years, we will continue sharing updates with all of you on Project Rene,” Pearson said.
