I’ve tried practically every makeup trend that was birthed on TikTok. From Gingerbread Girl and Strawberry Girl to Clean Girl and the newly-coined Mob Wife—I can always count on having more than enough inspo on my feed. While these trends come and go (and they’re a blast to experiment with), there’s one aesthetic I always find myself gravitating towards: old Hollywood glam. What can I say? I love the drama of it all! So when I saw that Charlotte Tilbury had just launched its new Hollywood Beauty Icon Lipstick line that includes 10 new lipstick shades dedicated to this very vibe, I knew I had to try it out for myself.

I’m someone who considers myself a “lipstick person,” I love an excuse to throw on a bold red lip, and you’ll never catch me without at least three different lipsticks and glosses in my purse at all times. I’ve been a fan of Charlotte Tilbury’s viral Pillow Talk lipstick and liner for ages (as is practically everyone else), but I had never been drawn to trying out other products in their lip range. Until now, that is. This latest launch marks the brand’s first time creating a lip range for their Hollywood collection, which consists of their beloved Contour Wands and Flawless Filter Foundation. Highly regarded as a celebrity makeup artist's favorite line, this collection is the definition of red-carpet-ready looks. Case in point? Their new lipstick Icon Baby just so happens to be the shade Jessica Chastain wore at the Emmys.

The 10 new lipsticks (which include five red matte hues and five pink satin ones) are all long-lasting and infused with lipstick tree extract to soften and hydrate lips. They're also buildable, making it so you can play around with their intensity and create as bold or as transparent of a look as you like. The 10 lipsticks are separated into two categories, with the red matte shades filed under Matte Revolution and the pink satin hues under the K.I.S.S.I.N.G line. My fellow red lovers will be happy to know the red shades range from a bright red to soft muted red and even a blue-red hue. As for the K.I.S.S.I.N.G pink shades, the options span from a dreamy ‘90s-inspired warm rose pink to a bright and vibrant Barbie pink. Now, here are my thoughts!

Hollywood Vixen is the perfect universal red

ICYMI, I’m a proud red girl. I’ve tried hundreds of shades, and although I have a list of trusty go-tos, I know that finding your perfect shade of red is a deeply personal experience for everyone! However, I’m convinced Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Vixen shade will look good on everyone, seriously! This shade is a true cool-tone red that will look lovely against any skin tone. And not only does it feel hydrating and creamy on my lips, but also the color payoff is just so good. I would have never thought this was a matte formula based on the way it feels. I love the dimension it creates and how easy it is to layer on. If you want old Hollywood star glam, this is it. Trust me.

Icon Baby is the *chef’s kiss* everyday shade

Last year was the year of pink, we know this. Credit it to Barbie or the nostalgic resurgence of pink bows on everything, but the pretty color made a huge splash last year, and I don’t think it will ever go out of style. When it comes to this line’s new pink shades, Icon Baby is the one I truly fell in love with. It feels reminiscent of a classic nude that you can wear anywhere while still having the transparent pop of color that will make people stop and ask you what you’re wearing (true story).

So, is the new collection worth it?

I’m not easily impressed by lipstick, but both of the above shades instantly became some of my all-time favorites. I wore Hollywood Vixen out for dinner with a friend and It. Did. Not. Budge. Matte lipstick shouldn’t be drying, and this creamy formula is proof. I also am such a fan of Icon Baby’s buttery smooth satin finish. Since I have a warmer skin tone, I can see myself mixing it with a darker brown liner to provide contrast on days when I want something bold and leaving it solo for my day-to-day life. The bottom line? These lipsticks are highly pigmented, hydrating, beautiful, and worth the buy.
