LOKI SEASON 2 is off to a good start. We pick up right where we left off, with Loki back at the TVA searching for Sylvie, while working with Mobius to stop Ravonna Renslayer and He Who Remains from disrupting all of time.

In Episode 2, "Breaking Brad", Loki and Mobius, now free to do whatever is needed to protect the various branches shooting off from the Sacred Timeline, begin to search for Sylvie. After she and Loki separated after meeting one of Kang's variants, Sylvie ran off to Broxton, Oklahoma (which is so much more than a random place in the middle of nowhere).

There she found a McDonalds and decided to become an employee, no longer living on the run. Now that she's no longer on the run from the TVA, she decided it was time to live a quieter life. But Loki and Mobius still need her help. Along with a rogue hunter they caught, the two go to Oklahoma and convince Sylvie to come back to the TVA. General Dox and a group of rogue hunters cut their reunion short, however, as they work to bomb all the branched timelines and restore the Sacred Timeline. The episode ends with Loki, Sylvie, Hunter B-15, and Mobius watching all of their hard work go to waste as the branched timelines vanish from existence, and Sylvie's chance at a normal life is seemingly destroyed. Marvel dropped a little easter egg once the episode finished, though.

At the end of Episode 2 of Season 2, we get a notable needle drop as the credits roll. Want to know what song is playing? Here's what you should know.

What song is playing at the end of Loki Season 2 Episode 2?

Janis Joplin's "Kozmic Blues" plays at the end of Loki Season 2 Episode 2. The song debuted in 1969, right as Joplin left her group Big Brother and the Holding Company.

Why that song choice? It lines up perfectly with Sylvie's emotional headspace in the episode, as she has to leave her quiet life behind. She has to say goodbye to her co-workers and return to a life of chaos and danger. The song's first lines are especially poignant:

Time keeps moving on
Friends they turn away
I keep moving on
But I never found out why
I keep pushing too hard and babe
I keep trying to make it right
Through another lonely day, ooh-whoa

It also echoes a little of what Mobius is feeling, too. As all TVA agents now know they're stolen from various timelines, he grapples with the life he currently lives, and the one he could be living in another timeline. He could have a family and a nice life, or like Brad, be a movie star (is Owen Wilson one of his variants?). As he mentions to Loki after Brad riles him up, it's not that he needs to know what other lives he could have lead, but rather that he's afraid of coming face-to-face with a happy version of himself, one where the TVA didn't take away his chance at a regular life.

Instead, Mobius lives entirely for his job, and knows nothing but his life at the TVA. His only friends are his coworkers, and as we saw in Season 1, his dreams of riding a jet ski won't be easy if he's busy catching time criminals and ensuring the preservation of time. He may not be alone, but he's certainly a prisoner of time.

Our main characters aren't too happy right now, and "Kozmic Blues" is the perfect mood for the episode.
