Newcomerstown News: June golf scramble will raise funds for splash pad at Cy Young Pool

A golf scramble will be held at Hickory Flats on Sunday, June 9, with proceeds going toward the splash pad for the Cy Young Pool.

Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. and tee off at 9 a.m. There will be door prices and a 50/50. The best scoring team wins a cash prize. Food will be available after the scramble. The cost to participate is $60 a person or $240 per team. For information call 330-432-7310.

Car, truck and motorcycle shop

The 23rd annual Cy Young Days car, truck, and motorcycle show will be held June 30 during Cy Young Days. The event is rain or shine and will be held at 137 W. Main St. This is a judged show and dash plagues will be given to the first 50 registered. The registration fee is $10, and you can register from 1 to 3 p.m. with awards presented at 5 p.m. In addition, there will be food available for purchase and entertainment by Music Explosion. Summer reading program

Registration for the summer reading program at the Newcomerstown Public Library begins June 3. Early literacy is held at noon on Thursdays for children 2 years old and includes those not entering kindergarten. Elementary is held at 1 p.m. Tuesdays for children starting kindergarten through fifth grade. The Teen session will be at 2 p.m. Wednesdays for those in sixth through 12th grade. Museum seeking help

Olde Main Street Museum is looking for a sound technician who is willing to learn and operate the sound system when there is entertainment. An entertainment manager is also needed to seek and book entertainment for tour buses. In addition, a kitchen manager is also on the list of needs. This would involve securing catering and volunteers to serve and cleanup. More information will be available to the next Historical Society meeting at 4 p.m. June 12, at 213 W. Canal St.
