  • In an exclusive clip from Yellowstone's "New Beginnings," Beth Dutton (played by Kelly Reilly) buys a neighboring ranch for $9 million.

  • Since the Paramount Network series first debuted in 2018, John and Beth Dutton have been defending their ranch against "land developers, an Indian reservation, and America’s first National Park."

  • Season 2 of Yellowstone airs on the Paramount Network on Wednesday nights at 10 p.m.

It takes a whole lot of ugly to keep the Dutton Family Ranch afloat. Since Yellowstone first debuted on Paramount Network in June 2018, we've watched the Dutton family - Kevin Costner's character John Dutton, in particular - come to terms with the fact that their sprawling Montana ranch (the largest in America, FYI) might not be theirs to keep for much longer. That is until Beth Dutton, John's take-no-prisoners daughter, got involved.

In case you need a refresh: During the show's first season, the family - John, Kayce, Beth, Jamie, and Monica Dutton - defended their property against constant attack by land developers, an Indian reservation, and Yellowstone National Park. Beth, however, continues to be the most vocal in season 2.

In an exclusive clip for GoodHousekeeping.com from this week's episode "New Beginnings," Beth is back in business a.k.a. buying up surrounding land to protect her family's ranch. When Beth initially asks the neighboring ranch owner if she can buy his ranch, he politely declines, stating that it is "not for sale." In true Beth fashion, she turns the tables by asking him to name his price. After he jokingly answers "9 million," Beth writes him a check for his asking price and proves that money can, in fact, buy happiness (or another day to breathe, in her family's case).

And just like that, Beth became the hero of Yellowstone ranch (for now, at least). Although she's not a fan of the ranch itself, her love for her dad continues to be her main motivation. "The relationship with her father is what draws her back and he needs her help. She is an asset to him," Kelly Reilly, who plays Beth, said in an interview with Paramount Network.

While this particular scene shows that her latest efforts are successful, Beth's days fighting for her family's survival aren't over yet, that's for sure. And even when things get nasty, Kelly reminds us that Beth still has a moral compass - a "deeply complicated" one, though. "Her morals are in the right place. She only kills people figuratively," she tells Paramount Network. As long as it protects her family's legacy, right?
