Over the years, we've kept up with Devi Vishwakumar and her besties, Eleanor, Fabiola, and Aneesa, as they navigate the ups and downs of high school on Never Have I Ever. Throughout the show, Devi also tries to find her place in the world with the support (and antics) of her Indian family, grieves her dad's death, and actively goes to therapy. On top of everything, she's been in the middle of not one, but two love triangles. The girl's got a lot going on! But sadly, it's all coming to an end soon, as Netflix renewed the beloved teen comedy for a fourth and final season.

At least we'll get to see Devi, Eleanor, Fabiola, Paxton, Ben, and Aneesa's adventures at Sherman Oaks one last time before bidding farewell to the Mindy Kaling-produced series. Ahead, find everything you need to know about season 4 of Never Have I Ever.

*Major spoilers for Never Have I Ever below!*

Has season 4 finished filming?

Yes! On August 3, leading lady Maitreyi Ramakrishnan confirmed that filming has wrapped on Never Have I Ever season 4. “we wrapped filming!! It’s all done! I feel so grateful and overwhelmed with emotions,” she wrote to a fan on Twitter.

Back in April, Mindy Kaling shared an update from the season 4 writing room. "'Never Have I Ever Writers World' sounds like a very specific amusement park!! Cookin up some spicy stuff for the FINAL SEASON 🥺😢," she wrote in her latest Instagram post.

When does Never Have I Ever season 4 come out?

Although we all binge-watched Never Have I Ever season 3 as soon as it premiered on August 12, there's no official confirmation on a release date for the final season. However, the show's official Twitter account set our social timelines ablaze when they teased a potential release date for season 4. A fan of the show asked if season 4 was coming out in 2022, and the NHIE account responded with "so about that..." In case you were wondering, we are not okay. and need answers immediately.

Since filming wrapped in August, we can most likely expect the last season to hit Netflix in late 2022 or early 2023. The streamer has yet to confirm a release date for the fourth and final season.

What about a trailer?

There is no trailer just yet. Since season 3 premiered in early August, it's likely we won't see any teasers for season 4 until early 2023.

Are there any new characters in Never Have I Ever season 4?

Yes — and it kind of feels like a crossover, TBH. Since the third and final season of Hulu's Love, Victor wrapped, the show's lead actor Michael Cimino joined the Never Have I Ever cast for season 4. Michael took to Instagram to share the news with fans. "It’s been incredible to work with such amazingly talented people, and I’m really excited for you guys to see all of the new stuff in 2022 🥰🥰," he wrote.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael will take on the role of Ethan, a skater and new heartthrob at Sherman Oaks High. Perhaps he'll be playing a possible love interest for Eleanor, Aneesa, or even Devi? 👀 Only time will tell when season 4 hits Netflix in 2023.

Who will be coming back for season 4?

Never Have I Ever's current cast — including its new characters for season 3 — will most likely all come back for the final season.

Since Devi's longtime love Paxton Hall Yoshida graduated from Sherman Oaks High in season 3 (and gave a killer speech during the ceremony, might we add), fans are wondering if Paxton will be in season 4 of Never Have I Ever. Darren Barnet said he has a good feeling about Paxton coming back to our screens while he's off to college at Arizona State University. "I have a good feeling Paxton may make an appearance in Season 4," Darren told USA Today. "I feel like I've added enough value to the show with three seasons that they wouldn't just write me out. Also, I haven't been a diva."

Thankfully, we no longer have to wonder if Darren will reprise his role as Paxton because showrunner Lang Fisher confirmed that we will definitely see him in season 4. "I want you to know Paxton Hall-Yoshida is in Season 4," Lang said in an August 2022 interview with Deadline. "He's in it as much as in Season 3, so the love triangle is not over."

Devi and Des, however, is the one ship that won't make it's way into the fourth and final season. Anirudh Pisharody, who starred as Des in season 3, confirmed to People that his character won't be making an appearance in the fourth and final season.

What will Never Have I Ever season 4 be about?

There are so many possibilities for the show's final season. Aneesa and Fabiola dated briefly, so we may see Aneesa continue to explore her queerness in season 4, while Fab dates her new partner, Addison. Paxton is off to college at Arizona State University, while his bestie, Trent, failed his senior year at Sherman Oaks. That means Trent has another year to make it up and spend more time with his GF, Eleanor. Of course, Devi finally hooked up with Ben in the season 3 finale thanks to the "One Free Boink" card he jokingly (but, really, not jokingly) gifted her earlier in the school year.

Since season 4 is the final season, we could also see Devi, Eleanor, Fabiola, and the rest of the crew try to navigate all the drama while also applying for colleges and prepping for graduation. TBH, we can't wait to see how this all unravels.

"We got the script the other day and, damn, that's all I'm going to say…There's just so much. So much happens to these Sherman Oaks kids. They don't catch a break," leading lady Maitreyi Ramakrishnan told Elle. Her co-star, Jaren Lewison, echoes her sentiment and calls season 4 the "perfect sendoff."

"I think the way the writers approached this fourth season has been with such care and with such tenacious and meticulous planning that I think we all feel comforted by the fact that it was a perfect sendoff. This fourth season is perfect," Jaren told Elle.

Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Jaren Lewison, and Darren Barnet dished on what viewers can expect in season four during Netflix's 2022 TUDUM event. Maitreyi and Jaren were stunned when Darren confirmed that his character Paxton would be appearing in season 4. Darren also revealed that there will be a wedding this season, but Maitreyi confirmed that the nuptials won't be between anyone the audience is expecting.

What else has the cast said about the upcoming season?

Given that MAJOR cliffhanger of a finale in season 3, we, of course, cannot wait for the debut of Never Have I Ever season 4. How will how Devi and Ben’s relationship evolve next? While there is no set release date for the final season yet, series lead Jaren Lewison (aka Ben) recently hinted at the incredible dramz that’s about to unfold.

“Whatever happens, whether they do or they don’t [have sex], it definitely will change their dynamic. And [co-creator] Mindy [Kaling] always says stable relationships are boring,” he said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “I know what happens because we’ve already shot the fourth season and it is killing me not to tell you. But we’ll have to see. We’ll have to see how they go about the aftermath of if they did or they didn’t.” OMG.

Jaren continued to label season 4 “more special” and that we’ll see a lot more of Ben’s vulnerability and relatable side.

“Regardless of whatever that outcome is, there’s going to be some tough conversations. There’s going to be some ups and downs. It will be a wild, wild ride,” he added.

Will season 4 end with a cliffhanger?

Unlike previous seasons, the final season of Never Have I Ever will not end with a cliffhanger. That means Devi will finally make a choice between Ben and Paxton. Show co-creator Lang Fisher revealed to ELLE that there will be a winner at the end of season 4. "There is a choice," Fisher confirmed. " [Devi] makes a choice... The winner wins," she continued. "The only problem with it is —now I'm learning, as we're making season 4 — I'm like, 'One team is going to be real mad at me.'"

Why is Never Have I Ever ending?

Never Have I Ever creator Mindy Kaling recently opened up about her decision to end the Netflix series. "Four seasons for a high school show felt like it made sense," she told Entertainment Tonight. "They can't be in high school forever. We've seen those shows. Like, you've been in high school for 12 years. What is going on here? Also, the actors get older and it starts looking insane that a 34-year-old is playing a 15-year-old," she added.

She also discussed the importance of releasing a series like Never Have I Ever on Netflix. "The great thing about doing it on Netflix is that we got to tell stories that you wouldn't necessarily be able to tell in traditional network shows, and so we feel good," she continued. "We really told the story of this 15-year-old girl, and that felt like the perfect amount of time."

The showrunner first confirmed the fourth and final season with the Sherman Oaks squad on March 8, 2022. In a letter addressed to fans, she and co-creator Lang Fisher announced the news.

Maitreyi also chimed in by posting a heartfelt video from when she got the part of Devi ahead of season 1. Excuse me while I grab some tissues (🥺!).
