It's lights out at Pincecrest Ice Arena after it's been announced that Netflix has cancelled Spinning Out after just one season.

The new Netflix series originally premiered on January 1, 2020 and seems to not have gained enough of an audience after just a month on the streaming giant. The show also co-premiered with recent reality hit, The Circle, which could've affected numbers.

Deadline was the first to report the show's cancellation and confirmed that, "Netflix, which goes straight-to-series on all of its shows, examines viewing (and awards recognition) vs. cost for each show when making a renewal decision."

Spinning Out is the second freshman series to get cancelled this year so far, the first was Soundtrack, which originally premiered on December 18, 2019.

Fans of the show were left with a major cliffhanger as small flash-forwards of the characters were revealed in the series finale while Kat and Justin performed their free dance, which left it up in the air whether they placed or made it to Nationals.

The show followed a new pair skating team, Kat and Justin, as they start their partnership and try to make it all the way to the Olympics. According to Deadline, the show was originally made for Pop.

The writers of the show released a statement on Twitter after the show's cancellation went public writing:

"Hey, everyone. I’m sure you’ve seen the news — we’ve been cancelled. We’re of course upset because we had so many stories to tell for our badass characters. Thank you so much for watching and being a part of our community. We truly appreciate each and every one of you."
