Netflix's Smash-Hit 'The Lincoln Lawyer' Season 2 FINALLY Has a Release Date

Audiences of Netflix's smash-hit series The Lincoln Lawyer have waited a whole year for the legal thriller to return. The show, which stars Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as the iconoclastic LA defense attorney Mickey Haller (who works out of the back of his Lincoln, of course), got a prompt renewal for season 2, but a release date has been elusive… until now.

This week Netflix announced a July 6 release date for The Lincoln Lawyer season 2, but pace yourself because this launch is going to be a two-parter. You'll have to wait till August 3 for the second half. The season includes 10 episodes in all.

The show is adapted from a series of best-selling novels by Michael Connelly, who, along with David E. Kelley, serves one of seven executive producers. Season 2 of The Lincoln Lawyer jumps ahead to book 4 in the series, The Fifth Witness. (This is par for the course, as season 1 was based on the second book, with some plot points from the first book woven in.)

In this season's storyline, you can expect to see Mickey shifting gears to foreclosure defense law, but only temporarily because one of his clients, restauranteur Lisa Trammell (played by Once Upon a Time's Lana Parrilla), is about to be accused of murder. Mickey will have to face off in the courtroom against the formidable prosecutor Andrea Freeman (Chicago Med's Yaya DaCosta).

Because the show adapts Connelly's books to reflect current times, you know there's a crime podcaster in the mix: Henry Dahl (played by Matt Angel), whose profession in the 2011 novel was a B-movie producer.

We'll also get to meet Mickey's mom (portrayed by the iconic Mexican actress Angélica María) in the new season. María joins returning cast members Becki Newton (as Lorna, Mickey's second ex-wife and legal assistant/office manager), Jazz Raycole (as Izzy, Mickey's driver), Angus Sampson (as Cisco, a reformed biker gang member and Mickey's PI), Krista Warner (as Hayley, Mickey's daughter), and Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine (as Detective Raymond Griggs).

Need to catch up? You have plenty of time to watch all 10 episodes of season 1 on Netflix before The Lincoln Lawyer season 2's July release date. After all, you will surely need to be up to speed on the mysterious tattooed man before you dive into the new episodes (hint, hint).
