Netflix Series Sets Massive Streaming Record Just Days After Premiere

Snap, snap.

A round of applause for Wednesday Addams.

Wednesday, the Addams Family spinoff, which made its debut on November 23, has emerged as a bonafide hit for Netflix.

The streaming giant tweeted the exciting news on Monday evening, writing: “Wednesday now holds the record for most hours viewed in a week for an English-language series on Netflix, with 341.2 MILLION HOURS!”

The tweet elaborated that the series—hailing from Tim Burton and starring YOU alum Jenna Ortega in the titular role—“is #1 in 83 countries, tying the record set by Stranger Things 4.

Fans in the comments were thrilled with the success, using the opportunity to throw in their requests for Netflix to green-light a second season.

The streamer elaborated on its website, noting, “Being an outcast has never been more IN as Wednesday, the supernatural infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years at Nevermore Academy, debuted in the #1 spot with a record breaking 341.23M hours viewed, with 50M+ households who have seen the series (341M hours viewed divided by 6.8 hours).”

In the spooky fantasy series that blends dark humor and drama, Wednesday Addams "attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago—all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships of the strange and diverse student body."

While Burton has kept some aspects of the former portrayals of The Addams Family in tact in the new series, he has also played with a handful of exciting new elements and developments, mainly Wednesday’s supernatural abilities.

Ortega is joined by a star-studded cast, including Catherine Zeta Jones as Morticia Addams and Luis Guzman as Gomez Addams.

Christina Ricci, a former Wednesday herself, tackles the role of Ms. Thornhill. She first brought the iconic character to life in the 1991 film.

You can stream Wednesday on Netflix now!
