"Who is Tom Ripley?" reads a description from the trailer for Netflix's forthcoming limited series, Ripley. That is exactly what the show hopes to uncover as it brings a new light to the criminal character created by American novelist Patricia Highsmith.

Directed and written by Steven Zaillian, the new eight-episode series livens Patricia Highsmith's 1955 crime novel The Talented Mr. Ripley. The general premise of the movie takes place in 1960s New York and follows the life of Tom Ripley after he's hired by a wealthy figure to persuade his son to come back. But the psychological thriller gains its legs as it specifically looks at how Tom's life becomes one of chaos, crime and murder.

The one-minute and two-second trailer reveals the show's cinematically production shot in black and white for a special touch. Ripley stars Andrew Scott as Tom Ripley alongside Dakota Fanning as Marge Sherwood, Johnny Flynn as Dickie Greenleaf, John Malkovich, Eliot Sumner, Maurizio Lombardi and Margherita Buy. Not to give off too much, the trailer shows several figures wondering and asking "Who is Tom Ripley?" The question is posted to others and Mr. Ripley himself.
