Netflix Releases Trailer for ‘Good Times’ Animated Reboot

Premiering in 1974 on CBS, 'Good Times' has been one of the most renowned Black sitcoms in American history as it chronicled aspects of the Black experience and tackled social issues of the time. The show followed the story of Florida and James Evans raising their children in a housing project in Chicago. With 133 episodes across six seasons, the show ran till 1979. Now, the show is returning, but in a different form. Netflix has released the debut trailer for the animated reboot of 'Good Times.'

The new series follows a new generation of the Evans family and their life/happenings in a Chicago housing project. Unlike the original show, the animated show maneuvers into the adult comedy space. Leading the show are the voices of J.B. Smoove, Yvette Nicole Brown, Jay Pharoah, Slink Johnson, Marsai Martin and Wanda Sykes.

Additionally, the reboot is showrun by Ranada Shepard with executive producers Stephen Curry, Norman Lear and Seth MacFarlane. Netflix's 'Good Times' is set to premiere on April 12.
