With Stranger Things season four breaking Netflix premiere viewership records less than two weeks after its debut, the anticipation for season five, or Volume 2 continues to grow.

Due to the immense success of the series, some are wondering if Netflix will be changing its release plan for Stranger Things. Peter Friedlander, Netflix's head of scripted series of the U.S. and Canada told Variety that there are currently no plans to change the Duffer Brothers series to a weekly release. He said, "For the fans of Stranger Things, this is how they've been watching that show, and I think to change that on them would be disappointing...To not not give them exactly what they've been expecting — which is Stranger Things is a seasonal experience, they go through that with them — I think that it would be an abrupt change for the member."

Friedlander did confirm that the binge model will continue to be Netflix's path of choice for scripted series, "We fundamentally believe that we want to give our members the choice in how they view. And so giving them that option on these scripted series to watch as much as they want to watch when they watch it, is still fundamental to what we want to provide."

Stranger Things season five arrives on the streamer on July 1.
