Netflix Drops Gripping Trailer for ‘All the Light We Cannot See’ Series with Hugh Laurie and Mark Ruffalo

Netflix is already pulling at our heartstrings with this first look at All the Light We Cannot See.

The streaming service just released the first official trailer for the war drama, which is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Anthony Doerr. The limited series—which is set to premiere on November 2—features an all-star cast, including Aria Mia Loberti, Louis Hofmann, Hugh Laurie and Mark Ruffalo.
The trailer begins with a voiceover from Marie-Laure Leblanc (Loberti), a blind French girl who’s determined to speak her truth amid WWII. “Ladies and gentlemen, before I begin my broadcast today, I have something to say,” she says in the clip. “In this time of darkness, of invading cities, I'm trying to remember light lasts forever. Darkness lasts not even for one second when you turn on the light.”
She continues, “I know that broadcasting could get me executed, but I will not be silenced.”
It goes on to introduce a teenager named Werner (Hofmann), who’s enlisted by Hitler to assist with radio technology. When Marie’s broadcasts become a problem, Werner is tasked with locating and killing her. However, he shares a special bond with Marie that only complicates his mission.

Laurie (House) stars as Marie’s great-uncle, Etienne, and Ruffalo (13 Going on 30) portrays Marie’s dad, Daniel. Other cast members include Nell Sutton, Marion Bailey, Lars Eidinger, Andrea Deck, Hélène Cardona, Tomm Voss and Rhashan Stone.
