The Virgin River crew is finally making progress on season 6 after months of delays and uncertainty due to the writers' and actors' strikes. They shared a snap of all the writers together in one room, presumably working hard dreaming up the fate of all our favorite characters. What will happen in the second half of season 5 is still unknown as the holiday themed episodes drop November 30, but so far fans aren't too pleased with the direction the series is going. Fans made sure to let their opinions be heard about Season 5 and their hopes for Season 6.

"Thrilled to have our writing team back in action, diving into Season 6! 📝," the Virgin River series account captioned the post.

Fans had a lot of the same requests for the new season, namely Charmaine's now three-season-long pregnancy to come to an end, more screen time for Mel and Jack, and a successful pregnancy for Mel.

They voiced their concerns in the comments saying:

  • "More Mel and Jack pls, and not so dark like season 5. Can Mel get pregnant with no issues. Come on guys try to stick to the source of the writing and enough of Charmaine she has been pregnant for 5 year really...make it better, we like happy stories, which is the beauty of virgin river, thank you"

  • "Yay now write off the characters no one wants (Ava, etc) and have more Mel and Jack pleaseeeeee"

  • "I love VR. But i have to say that I found season 5 to be the worst of all. How did you manage to ruin the plot after such a beautiful 4th season? The characters lost connection. Where are Jack's beautiful scenes with Mel?"

  • "I wonder how you writers can smile with so many fans unhappy with the fifth season... 😒"

One fan out of the masses had some nice things to say: "Welcome back 😊! Best news 🥳, so thrilled that the writing of our beloved show can resume. Please don’t pay too much attention to the negative comments, lots of us loved Season 5," they wrote.

It seems Virgin River still has a very loyal fan base, but they might not stick around forever if the show keeps going in the same direction. Here's to hoping this break for the writers gave them a fresh perspective that will save season 6 and the future of the series.
