Netflix Announces 'Castlevania' Spinoff 'Nocturne'

During Geeked Week, Netflix revealed the announcement trailer for the spinoff series of Frederator Studios' Castlevania animated series entitled Castlevania: Nocturne.

The upcoming series will be led by showrunner Kevin Kolde and writer Clive Bradley. Castlevania: Nocturne will star Richter Belmont, a descendant of the Belmont family, and Maria Renard, and will be set during the French Revolution in 1792.

Last year, Netflix reportedly wanted to start a new series in the same universe with a new cast of characters. Last June, original executive producer Kevin Kolde, director Sam Deats, and assistant director Adam Deats announced that a spinoff series was in the making.

The series first premiered on Netflix in July 2017, consisting of four episodes, and the second season releasing the following year with eight episodes. In 2020, the third season was released with ten episodes, and the latest season coming out last May with ten episodes as well. Netflix described the series: "A vampire hunter fights to save a besieged city from an army of otherworldly beasts controlled by Dracula himself. Inspired by the classic video games."

Elsewhere in entertainment, Netflix officially confirmed Squid Game season two.
