Netflix and Shondaland have officially announced the Bridgerton spinoff series, which will focus on a young Queen Charlotte:

"Centered on Queen Charlotte's rise to prominence and power, this Bridgerton-verse prequel tells the story of how the young Queen's marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton."

The streamer also confirmed that Golda Rosheuval, Adjoa Andoh and Ruth Gemmell will be reprising their roles from Bridgerton in the spinoff, playing Queen Charlotte, Lady Agatha Danbury and Lady Violet Bridgerton, respectively. Joining the trio are India Amarteifio as a Young Queen Charlotte, Michelle Fairley as Princess Augusta, Corey Mylchrees as a Young King George, Arsema Thomas as a Young Agatha Danbury, Sam Clemmett as a Young Brimsley, Richard Cunningham as Lord Bute, Tunji Kasim as Adolphus, Rob Maloney as the Royal Doctor, Cyril Nri as Lord Danbury and Hugh Sachs as an older Brimsley.

Shonda Rhimes will continue to serve as the showrunner, writer and co-executive producer alongside director Tom Verica and Besty Beers.
