Netflix has another alien show in the works - but this time, it’s not fiction.

Encounters is a four-part docu-series detailing apparent ‘true stories’ involving alien/human interactions. It’s set to debut on Netflix 27 September, with the streaming service recently releasing a trailer for the series.

Unlike Netflix’s other alien docs, such as Ancient Aliens and Top Secret UFO Projects Declassified, there’s an air of legitimacy around Encounters. That’s because it’s being produced by Amblin Television, a company owned by Steven Spielberg. He’s of course no stranger to aliens himself, having directed E.T. and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

According to the official synopsis, Encounters is “a landmark four-part series that travels the globe to explore four extraordinary true stories of encounters with otherworldly phenomena. Each cinematic and deeply-researched episode tells a single story: strange lights in the sky over small-town Texas; submersible space crafts haunting a coastal Welsh village; an alien encounter with schoolchildren in Zimbabwe; non-human intelligence reportedly interfering with a nuclear power plant in Japan.”

Encounters beams down onto Netflix 27 September. Watch the trailer below. In other alien news, that's a wrap as Alien 7 finishes filming.
