Nelson-Atkins ‘Art Course’ opening Friday for the spring season

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is once again opening its Art Course — a nine-hole, mini golf course — on Friday.

Located on the south side of the Nelson-Atkins building in the infamous Donald J. Hall Sculpture Park, the artist-designed course offers an immersive experience to art-lovers and golf enthusiasts alike.

The more than subpar installation “presents a creative interpretation of a work of art in the museum’s collection,” according to the Nelson-Atkins website.

Starting Friday, the course will open on weekends from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday during the spring season. The fall schedule is the same.

However, the summer season, which begins on May 16, will have more opportunities to play as tee times will be available Thursday through Monday also during regular museum hours.

According to the Nelson-Atkins website, players are required to reserve tee times and encouraged to book in advance. On-site reservations are on a “first come, first served basis,” and all reservations are limited to 12 people. Click here to book a tee time.
