NCIS: Los Angeles is action-packed this season.

The twists and turns have been almost too much to handle. A few weeks back, fans were worried that Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) was gearing up to leave the show. Only to have those concerns squashed later when Hetty (Linda Hunt) pulled some strings and brought him back to NCIS.

But as we all know, when one character is safe, another is at risk. Lately, the chatter has been all about Nell, who’s played by actress Renée Felice Smith. They’ve been setting the scene for Nell to leave for a while. Between the shift in her relationship with Eric (Barrett Foa), her mother’s illness, and her uncertainty about her career, it certainly seems possible that she's on her way out. But is Nell really leaving NCIS: LA?

Unfortunately, there’s not a lot of info out there that definitively says one way or the other. One ray of hope is from site CarterMatt, which suggests any absence she’s had in recent episodes is because she’s enjoying some personal time, not because she wants to exit the crime drama. After all, it’s pretty common for NCIS: Los Angeles characters to take breaks while still remaining in the cast. Just last year, Barrett took some time away to perform on Broadway, and now he’s back. See, totally normal!

On the flip side, the NCIS franchise is also known for taking characters away too soon. Ziva, Tony, and let’s not even get started about Lasalle’s exit on NCIS: NOLA. Still not over it.

We’ll keep you updated on if we hear anything more secure, but in the meantime let’s just all use the power of positive thinking and assume Nell’s not going anywhere. Sound like a plan!?
