Neil Patrick Harris Teases His Family’s Halloween Costume: ‘We Have a Family Picture That We’re Going to Do’

We’re just five short days away from Halloween and there’s still radio silence coming from Neil Patrick Harris’s Instagram page. The 48-year-old actor has yet to reveal his family’s costume this year. However, based on our conversation with him, we’re optimistic the costume genius and his gang have something up their sleeves.

PureWow had the chance to ask Harris about his plans for the spooky holiday. During the chat, he revealed that the family of four was in the process of agreeing on a costume. “Were trying to come up with a group idea. The kids as they get old get more annoying (is that the right word?), more difficult to convince. So, I don’t know,” Harris revealed before inquiring about appropriate tactics to persuade his children to participate.

“Let me ask you a question, in the same world: Is bribing your children to do a family Halloween picture appropriate at 10 or 11? And at what price point now? ‘I'll give you ten dollars if you’ll do a group Halloween picture?’ No, I’m joking.”

All jokes aside, Harris affirmed that there is a costume in the works. “We have a family picture that we’re going to do, we still have to take it. We’re all kinds of busy. They’re in the fifth grade. So, thinking like a student is big on my list right now. Coming up with Halloween costumes is a little bit lower. But I do love me some Halloween. I cant wait to do some haunted houses—we’re all wearing masks anyway.”

Naturally, we had to reminisce about our favorites over the years. According to the Matrix 4 star, he has a hard time picking his. “I don’t really [have a favorite], each year has been super different. I do like the super scary stuff. Last year, we did Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory which is one of my favorite movies. So, that one turned out pretty well. Oh, and we did Disney’s Haunted Mansion one year, that was fun.”
