This Neighborhood in Canada Looks Like Something Straight Out of a Holiday Movie

Across the world, towns and cities are festooning their streets with lights, decking their halls with holly, and hosting all kinds of holiday activities.

But all the brightly colored decorations in the world can't compete with the holiday charms of Quebec City’s Quartier Petit Champlain.

It’s about as close to a bona fide winter wonderland as you’ll find in North America. The neighborhood has a five-star rating on Yelp for its “picture perfect” streets, “endless shops and restaurants,” and surplus of Christmas spirit.

One reviewer said it was “a magical place that looks like 'Whoville' in the Grinch movie.” Take a look at the photos and you're sure to agree.

Along the cobblestone streets, travelers will find pine trees adorned with lights and fresh snow. Garlands drape overhead while carolers in fur coats make the rounds from restaurant to restaurant (seriously!).

There are even hidden nativity scenes in the plazas and a larger-than-life advent calendar projection on the side of a church.

Until December 24, Santa Claus will hold court in his kingdom, set up at Félix Leclerc park, and hand out presents to children.

To get the most holiday spirit, visit the neighborhood on Saturday, December 9, when Family Day takes over the streets. The outdoor holiday celebration will include appearances from Santa and his elves, Christmas crafts, games and music. The event is free and open to all.
