Nearly 500 vendors set for Lodi Street Faire

Apr. 24—May is just around the corner, and the first Sunday of the month will welcome thousands of people from across the state to the Lodi Street Faire.

Starting at 8 a.m. on May 5, the faire will feature nearly 500 vendors offering up antiques, arts, crafts, clothing and homemade snacks.

Lodi Chamber of Commerce event manager Jenna Haley said there were 492 vendors signed up to fill spaces along School and Church streets between Lockeford Street and Lodi Avenue.

The faire, which is held the first Sunday in May and October, typically features special exhibits or activities that fit the spring and autumn seasons.

For the upcoming faire, Monarca Dance Academy, a new Folklorico dance group in Lodi, will be performing at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Pine Street.

The U.S. Army will also have an interactive booth set up and equipment on display. The Lodi Fire and Police departments will also have their own community areas in front of their administration buildings on Elm Street, complete with activities and games for youngsters.

Shoppers can fuel up for a busy day with foods from bratwurst sandwiches and tri-tip to Mexican, Filipino and Chinese selections, then top it off with sweet treats and cold drinks.

"It's exciting," Haley said. "I think we're going to have a great time. It looks like the weather is going to be good, too."

The Lodi Street Faire runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 5. Admission is free. For more information, visit www.lodichamber.com/lodi-street-faire.
