Special Agent Kensi Blye is a force to be reckoned with on NCIS: Los Angeles, brilliantly encapsulating both the struggle and power of her character. And, as it turns out, the same is said to be true of her real-life role as a mother.

In a selfie posted to her Instagram, Daniela is shown pumping breast milk while holding her and husband David Paul Olsen's baby daughter, Sierra Esther, now 3. She's also standing beside their son, River Isaac, who is turning 5 this year.

"In this pic I was home alone with the kiddos going through the morning routine (my hubby is the most present incredible dad, but on this day he left for work early),” Daniela wrote. “I was and am a very happy mom but there is no doubt that the first year of motherhood was CHALLENGING - emotionally, mentally & physically."

In this pic I was home alone with the kiddos going through the morning routine (my hubby is the most present incredible dad, but on this day he left for work early) I was and am a very happy mom but there is no doubt that the first year of motherhood was CHALLENGING - emotionally, mentally & physically...That is a joyful yet exhausted smile. But my post today carries a bigger purpose- it is for the #oneforyearone campaign to raise awareness for maternal health. For every post using #oneforyearone, @LittleSpoon will donate to @EveryMomCounts. The more posts, the more they are able to donate and raise attention to some alarming facts about the state of maternal health, for ex. The maternal mortality rate continues to rise in the US each year. It is also the highest maternal mortality rate of any developed country. To all the parents out there, how was your first year grappling with parenthood? . . #breastfeeding #pumping #motherhood #kids #siblings #grateful #maternalhealth #awareness

She went on to acknowledge that while her smile was joyous, it was undoubtedly exhausted. If you’re a mom—or are expecting—there’s a good chance her words ring true. Which is why she continued to segue into an incredibly important, oft-forgotten topic: maternal health.

She hashtagged her post with #oneforyearone to partake in the campaign, where Little Spoon, an organic baby food company, will donate to Every Mother Counts, a non-profit “dedicated to making pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother, everywhere.”

"To all the parents out there, how was your first year grappling with parenthood?" she finished her post. Let us know in the comments. ❤️
