Both 'NCIS' and 'NCIS: Hawaii' will be returning this fall.

With the earlier news that NCIS: Los Angeles is going to end with Season 14, fans of the franchise have been holding their breaths as to the status of mothership NCIS and NCIS: Hawaii, the most recent addition. But they can now exhale because today CBS announced that it has renewed NCIS for its 21st season and Hawaii for its third season.

NCIS will be hitting episode 450 on Feb. 27 and the renewal puts it on the road to making it to 500, which it could very well achieve as the series has a fresh feel to it. Mark Harmon’s departure saw the addition of Gary Cole as the leader of the team, Alden Parker, and Katrina Law joined as Jessica Knight, replacing Emily Wickersham. So, Season 20 has had the opportunity to tell new stories about the new characters.

Over at NCIS: Hawaii, Vanessa Lachey is playing Jane Tennant, the first woman in the NCIS franchise to head a team, and she isn’t going anywhere any time soon as she calls this her “dream role.”

“It’s something that I always wanted to do, and now that I get to do it, I’m willing to get the bruises and the scrapes and all of that to play her,” Lachey told Parade in January. “It’s so fun. Whenever I do it, I’m like, ‘This is my job, I can’t believe it!’ I still can’t believe it; I get tickled all the time.”

In addition to the NCIS pickups, CBS also picked up 60 Minutes, CSI: Vegas, Survivor, The Amazing Race, Tough as Nails, Lingo and 48 Hours. Previous pickups were given to Fire Country, Young Sheldon, Ghosts, The Neighborhood, Bob Hearts Abishola, So Help Me Todd, The Equalizer, FBI, FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted.

“This season CBS is continuing its winning tradition, delivering an unparalleled combination of top returning series and new hit shows that are entertaining huge audiences on both broadcast and streaming,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “It is a testament to the stellar work being done by our best-in-class talent in front of and behind the camera that we have had yet another exceptional season, and I know we will only continue to build on this foundation of outstanding programming as we look ahead toward next fall.”

Still awaiting word as to their fate are Blue Bloods, SWAT, and rookie series East New York.
