NBC Reveals Big News About Future of ‘One Chicago’ and ‘Law & Order’ Franchises

Dick Wolf fans have reason to celebrate.

Dick Wolf is going six for six at NBC with the renewal of all the series in his One Chicago franchise—Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D.—as well as Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU and Law & Order: Organized Crime—for the 2023-2024 season.

“I’m pleased to continue my four-decade relationship with Universal Television and NBC,” said Wolf. “All six shows being picked up again is the ultimate accolade to our incredible casts, producers and writers. I’d also like to thank our loyal fans who have kept our NBC shows on the air for what will be a cumulative 84 seasons.”

Chicago Fire will air its 12th season, Chicago PD its 11th, and Chicago Med its ninth. While Law & Order: SVU continues with a record breaking 25th season, and the mothership series, which was rebooted in 2021, will air its 23rd season, with the newest show in the franchise, Organized Crime, set for its fourth season.

But there's one hitch. While Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU are each renewed for a full 22-episode season, Organized Crime only received a pickup for 13. According to TV Line, it's because Organized Crime producers have very specific plans for next season, which are best accomplished with a reduced order.

“We understand the emotional connection our audience has with these characters and we can’t wait to bring more of their stories to the forefront next season,” said Lisa Katz, President, Scripted Programming, NBCUniversal and Streaming. “A huge thank you to Dick and his amazing team who are the masters of producing incredibly compelling television week after week.”

The Chicago shows air Wednesday nights with Med at 8 p.m. ET/PT, Fire at 9 pm. ET/PT, and P.D. closing the night at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

Then Thursday night is Law & Order night with the original airing at 8 p.m. ET/PT, followed SVU at 9 p.m. ET/PT and Organized Crime at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
