Naya Rivera’s Ex Ryan Dorsey Gets Emotional While Helping With Search Efforts

Naya Rivera’s ex-husband, Ryan Dorsey, and her father have joined the search effort to help recover her body from Lake Piru. On June 11, they were seen at the lake where Naya disappeared on July 8. They both looked emotional as they embraced before entering the water where Naya and Ryan’s son, Josey, was found the week prior.

Authorities continue to search for Naya after she was reported missing after taking a boat ride with her son. Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Captain Eric Buschow told reporters on July 9 that “there’s no evidence of foul play at this point, this may well be a case of drowning,” while Deputy Chris Dyer said, “There are no signs of anything wrong besides a tragic accident.”

Sadly, the search efforts have shifted from a rescue mission to a recovery mission and Naya is presumed dead. “The goal is still to bring Ms. Rivera home to her family so they can have some closure,” Dyer said, according to multiple outlets.

Us Weekly confirmed the news of Naya’s disappearance on July 9. “[They] found her boat adrift with Naya’s 4-year-old son asleep on the boat and Naya was nowhere to be found,” the department said in the initial statement. “This is an active investigation. It is believed that Naya and her son were swimming in the lake near the boat and as they were getting back into the boat, her son made it into the boat and Naya went underwater and did not resurface.”
