When Is National Tequila Day?
National Tequila Day is held on July 24 every year. You may have also heard of the day referred to as International Tequila Day. It's not known how or when the holiday originated but it is a day to celebrate one of the oldest spirits. Tequila was first produced in the 16th century in the town of Tequila, which is located in the Mexican state of Jalisco. It was originally made with Blue Weber Agave.

What Are the Different Types of Tequila?
Not all tequila is the same. The spirit varies by brand and also by type. Here are the five basic types, which range from a cocktail mixer to a spirit made for sipping straight.
Blanco - Sometimes called silver tequila or plata, Blanco is the most common type of tequila used in cocktails.
Reposado - Reposado means "rested" and this type of tequila sits in the barrel for at least two and up to eleven months. It's smoother than blanco tequila.
Anejo - Made to sip neat, this tequila has been aged from one to three years in an oak barrel. The aging gives the spirit vanilla or brown sugar notes.
Extra Anejo - As the name suggests, this tequila is aged for more time than Anejo tequila. It sits on oak for at least three years and is considered a premium spirit.
Cristalino - A newcomer to the scene, Cristalino is aged tequila that goes through a filtering process that makes it crystal clear.
