The Nathan Florence Slab Tour Makes Stop at Shipstern Bluff

Nathan Florence is known for being able to find a ridiculous slab virtually anywhere in the world. Of course, he’s a regular at the standard spots, like Western Australia’s The Box, but he’s also managed to find some pretty gnarly waves in places like northern Scotland.

However, for his latest stop on the slab tour, Florence and company returned to a classic: Shipstern Bluff. The Tasmanian break has earned a reputation as one of the classic mutant slabs.

The one problem was that, after suiting up and making their way out to the famed peak, the gang was greeted by a grand total of absolutely zero waves. “We came all the way out and the waves are just not it, folks,” Florence wryly said to camera, before panning over for a view of a totally flat lineup. “It’s all we got.”

The second day, though, things were a little different. They arrived at the break and were greeted by heaving, unpredictable, backless waves. In other words, proper Shippies.
