Natasha Rothwell of Insecure Survived a Celebrity-Studded Nightmare

Issa Rae may rightly be the face of Insecure, but there's no shortage of star power in the show's cast. The includes Natasha Rothwell, who both writes for Insecure and plays Kelly, one of Issa's scene-stealing best friends.

While Rae has perfected awkward, what-the-hell-are-you-doing inducing humor for her character, Rothwell's Kelly is has no shortage of confidence and no problems speaking up (except for one scene in a diner booth where she was, well, distracted). In real life Rothwell is more down to earth and less likely to pick fights at Coachella. In fact, she's more of a self-described wallflower, which was an issue for her when she worked as a writer on SNL and went to the show's fortieth anniversary with, in her words, "more celebrities per square foot than should be allowed." As she told Seth Meyers on Tuesday, she basically pinballed into one superstar after another:

I was like, you know what, I'm gonna stop hugging the wall, I'm gonna go closer to the stage, because Paul McCartney was playing. And so I tried to jockey towards the stage, and I bump into someone doing that—and it's Prince. Who said, "That's alright, baby." And so, terrified, I said, "No, it's not!" And I run trying to get away from him because I was like, "You know what, I'm gonna hug the wall because that's where I'm more comfortable." And in doing that, I know over—almost knock over Leonardo DiCaprio. And he's like, "Are you alright?" And I'm like, "No, I'm not! This is crazy!" So I decided to hang out by the front door, because, you know, we were halfway through. And I look up and the room starts staring at me and I'm like, "Do I have a nosebleed? Did I stress fart? What is going on?" And then I smell like the most beautiful fragrance ever, so I knew it wasn't a fart. And I look over, and standing shoulder to shoulder with me is Beyoncé. With her husband, I don't know if you know him, Jay-Z. She smiles at me and I levitate a little bit, and I just start laughing hysterically.

We don't know how Beyoncé handled the stranger bursting into nervous laughter next to her, but unlike Rothwell that's probably not her weirdest night ever. But we do have confirmation now that Bill Murray dances pretty well for a white guy.
