Natalie Portman's Dress From 1999's Star Wars Premiere Will Bring Back So Many Memories

The year was 1999, and on top of people freaking out about the new millenium, playing Pokémon cards, and watching Carson Daly host TRL, a 17-year-old Natalie Portman was out promoting her new movie, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.

If that sentence alone doesn't take you back in time, perhaps the outfit that the actress wore to the film's New York premiere will. With all the excitement over the franchise's latest installment — AKA Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (which stars our new style icon, Kelly Marie Tran) — we decided to look it up. And whoa, we were not disappointed.

Portman's baby blue dress was actually quite simple, featuring spaghetti straps (so '90s!) and silver, studded trim. The design was mid-length and flowy, and happen to perfectly match the star's heeled sandals, which was a big trend at the time.

However, it was after we got a closer look at Portman's purse that we truly began having flashbacks. The small silver pouch that was wrapped around her wrist was the type of bag we carried to school dances and Sweet 16s. Honestly, now that we think about it, it was convenient and versatile. We wouldn't mind if this style made a comeback with all the rest of those throwback styles.
