Natalie Portman Talks About Meeting Mark Hamill For The First Time

In one part of the episode, Jimmy Kimmel pointed out how the mother of two met Mark Hamill for the first time ever at the Golden Globes this year.

The connection between the two? Hamill took on the iconic role of Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise, debuting in 1977’s A New Hope. On the other hand, Portman portrayed Padmé Amidala in the prequel trilogy, making her first appearance in 1999’s The Phantom Menace. Interestingly, Padmé is unveiled as the mother of Luke and Leia.

“It was the first time we had ever met. I had met Carrie Fisher before (played by Leia) luckily, she was such an icon of mine. And then this was my first time meeting Mark,” Portman confessed.

The talk show host then asked her, “I mean you’ve been in the business since you were a kid, how often do you run into somebody that you’d not met before, somebody that you are excited about?”

To which the Black Swan alum replied, “Often!” Kimmel then asked, “Is it because you don’t get out much?”

Portman hilariously replied, “Yeah, exactly it,” as the audience laughed out loud.
