Napoleon Digital Release Date Revealed

Napoleon is coming to video-on-demand, and it’ll be there sooner than you think.

That’s because it actually launches today. From January 9, you can rent or buy Ridley Scott’s historical epic on Apple TV+, Google Play, and YouTube.

To celebrate the release, Apple TV+ has served up a fresh featurette, this one examining the film’s famous recreation of the Battle of Austerlitz.

Considered one of Napoleon's greatest victories, it sees his French forces take on the combined might of Russia and Austria on a frozen lake. Shattering ice led to an estimated 2,000 casualties.

Now you can see how Scott achieved the effect using visual effects, practical stunt work, and even a giant water tank to dunk the actors into.
